Two brand new game modes are coming to Overwatch's Arcade mode, and they're about as classic as you can imagine-Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. Both of the new modes are joining the Public Test Realm later today, August 10, and will be almost identical to the Deathmatch modes you may have experienced in other first-person shooters. The different modes include a free-for-all, and team deathmatch. There will also be a team-based Deathmatch mode, where six people square off against six more in a game where there is no objective other than killing members of the opposite team. This means players won't rage at you for being Hanzo or Widowmaker all the time. Kaplan said that Mercy's Resurrect Ultimate will actually take kills off of the scoreboard from the other team, and that the three-on-three Arena maps and modified Capture the Flag maps will be available for this mode.
If you're in the top four in each match, you'll get win credit toward your loot boxes.
In Overwatch's FFA, you'll be gunning against seven other players to reach 20 kills. The first team to 30 points wins! You aren't playing to push a payload, you're looking to grab as many kills as you can, as fast as you can. This is called Château Guillard, and unfortunately the developer update video does not show any glimpses of the map.
Château Guillard is located near Annecy in southeastern France.
"Recently, the chateau has found a new owner: the Talon agent Widowmaker, who has returned to her family's ancestral home". Although Blizzard hasn't given a specific date for when players across platforms will be able to play deathmatch, new Overwatch features traditionally go live to the public within a few weeks of being made available on the PTR.
