Jones, whose achievements are matched only by his peerless capacity for managing to fuck everything up, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol.
This is just the latest turn in a long line of disappointments from Jones.
The alleged dirty sample marks the third drug-related offense for Jones, who popped positive for cocaine in an out-of-competition test prior to his first fight with Daniel Cormier and failed another out-of-competition test for steroids in the leadup to a scheduled UFC 200 rematch with Cormier. The report also states Jones has been stripped of his title and Cormier will be reinstated as champion - though UFC President Dana White told ESPN that decision has not yet been finalized. According to TMZ Sports, his most recent positive test could result in a ban up to four years.
Update: UFC has confirmed that Jones failed a USADA test.
The UFC has yet to confirm what Jones tested positive for, and has not commented on whether he will retain his title.
On a week where the eyes of the fight world are on the UFC lightweight champion making his debut in a boxing ring, a budding megastar with a troubled past has once again given the UFC a black eye.
Jones was supposed to be celebrating a redemption story with his UFC 214 win. Jones has been provisionally suspended by USADA pending an adjudication process that all fighters are afforded after a potential doping violation. Jones has not made any public statement regarding the news.
This is the second failed drug test of Jones's tumultuous career.
A shell-shocked White said: "He has not been stripped yet but he has got to go through the process".
