Nissan has launched an integrated information and communication platform - NissanConnect in India. Ltd., of Japan, made its entry into the connected auto segment by introducing NissanConnect, an integrated information and communication platform, developed by Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre.
The company states that the NissanConnect application offers more than 50 features to improve the ownership experience of a Nissan auto. The launch comes after the launch of a similar service by Toyota in India. Customers can also locate nearby fuel stations, Nissan dealerships, service stations and book vehicle services in advance. "Initially, we will be offering the Intelligent mobility in three of our models from mid-to-high end segment".
The software app enables the new owner of Sunny/Terrano/Micra to locate the auto, plan trips better with weather information, faster route guidance, better control of the vehicle with voice alerts, speed alerts, movement of auto outside the set boundary or time, sharing of vehicle location and others.
NissanConnect apart from providing information and communication features, also helps users stay connected with their family and friends through the vehicle. The Nissan Connect has been developed by Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India (RNTBCI).
The NissanConnect platform has been described by the company as a "factory fitted Connected Car Technology solution with an embedded Telematics Control Unit paired with an inbuilt SIM for every car and a dedicated server".
"The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) is shifting gears in the automotive industry". The new information and communication platform is inspired by Nissan's Intelligent Mobility vision which aims at making the experience of driving more enjoyable, and driving more convinced, competent and exciting, NissanConnect is created to transform the vehicle into a more responsive driving partner for the users and provide a complete assurance of security and convenience.
