New Mercedes Maybach concept is a super-stretched convertible

The Vision 6 Cabriolet is engineered and designed as an electric auto with output of 750 hp and a range of more than 200 miles.

Mercedes-Benz's efforts to further resurrect the image and standing of its Maybach sub-brand on the back of strong sales for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in key global markets over the past 12 months took on a new twist at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, USA, with the unveiling of an open top version of the art deco inspired Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept auto.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet has just debuted as the fanciest droptop ever. To some, a convertible version of the 18.7-foot long stunner would be and that is exactly what Mercedes-Benz has uncovered this year during Monterey Car Week.

In terms of performance, Mercedes says the Maybach 6 Cabriolet will be able to go from zero to 60 mph in fewer than four seconds, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

The contrast between the dark blue paintwork, in "nautical blue metallic", and the chrome highlights the organically shaped wings and the chrome trim elements. On all four corners are newly designed 24-inch wheels with a rose gold center lock.

Inside, quilted Crystal White leather, an open-pore wood floor with aluminum inlays and digital gauges with real needles greet occupants.

The concept also previews the automaker's future technologies, with the Vision 6 Cabriolet created to "anticipate the needs of its passengers and to provide the required information and solutions in real time", says Mercedes-Maybach.

Inside, touch controls and intelligent navigation are to linked appointment calendars and a voice-activated concierge system. There's also the latest generation of biometric sensors that record the state of mind and health status of the passengers.

At the 2016 Los Angeles motor show the German vehicle maker unveiled the limited volume Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Cabriolet, of which just 300 examples have be produced.
