President Trump played a round of golf during the fifth day of his summer vacation in New Jersey.

Politico reviewed a schedule of Trump's impending visit to his hometown, which shows that he's planning to depart Bedminster on Sunday afternoon and head straight to Trump Tower, where he'll spend three nights at his 66th floor, three-story penthouse. To paraphrase Marc Antony (the Roman statesman, not the singer): "My heart is in Bedminster with The Donald".

President Donald Trump is making his first trip back to Trump Tower since his inauguration.

Local officials are getting ready.

Trump's remarks come two days after his provocative "fire and fury" rant towards the North Koreans. He explained that he's decamped to New Jersey while the builders and decorators are in at the White House and, he tweeted, he's "working hard".

Sure, Trump sat in on an impromptu briefing on Tuesday on opioid abuse, after Fox News ran a segment that morning on the crisis.

Mr Trump has been hoist on his own petard, having criticised Barack Obama (handicap 13) for playing golf too often while in office, but there is something terribly undignified in the President of the United States feeling he has to justify exactly how he is spending his free time. Doesn't the president need time off to recharge his batteries?

Bedminister Mayor Steven Parker has said it could cost his town's government and its 16-member police force $300,000 to support the president's travel this summer.

Trump could pay a visit to another one of his favorite properties during his time off: Trump Tower in New York City.

White House spokeswomen have been vague about what Trump has been doing since he arrived.

Trump has begun his workweek mornings with tweets that make it clear he's been watching that days' news programs.

"The reason I am staying in Bedminster, N.J., a attractive community, is that staying in NYC is much more expensive and disruptive".
