If you plot Logano's finishes on a chart, it would look like a roller coaster - top ten, thirtieth, top ten, thirtieth. Take two of the five active drivers to have won at Watkins Glen: Joey Logano (who won in 2015) is desperate to get back into the playoffs after NASCAR took away his automatic berth when his winning auto at Richmond failed inspection.
His average finish is 12.750, which is fourth best.
But betting on Denny Hamlin is not the best idea. Fast facts: Preece was first and second in his two-race deal with Joe Gibbs Racing. This weekend should be another good weekend for the #11 Toyota as well as the rest of the Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Kevin Harvick is a former victor of this very race and I expect good things from him again today. Logano got off to a great start this season but seemed to peak following his 2017 Toyota Owners 400 win, finishing in the 20s and 30s much more often than in the 10s and 5s.as they say, though, if you can make it in NY yaddy yaddy yadda and Logano has shown he can make it there time and time again. He's listed at 7-1 odds for the Glen and has one victory here to go along with three top fives and eight top ten finishes. Don't count out Kevin Harvick on Sunday.
Also Friday, NASCAR has suspended the crew chief for Cup driver Erik Jones for a rules violation at Pocono Raceway. He has finished outside of the top 10 only in five out 21 appearances at the Glen.
However, the hard-driving 27-year-old driver's post-race elation and relief turned to despair shortly afterward when NASCAR officials declared his Richmond win "encumbered" because his racer did not meet their "specs" in their inspection.
There was a time when A.J. Allmendinger was automatically the favorite when it came to road courses. That's why someone like Allmendinger not only would need a win but probably some help to get in during the next five weeks.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.is running out of time on all fronts.
