The agency also announced that June's employment figures were revised upward by 4,900 jobs to bring total gains that month to 9,300 jobs. State (5,100), county (3,300) and city (2,500) employment stayed the same in Solano County.
Government payrolls registered the largest month-over-month decrease in the county with a loss of 35,300 jobs, the EDD report said. The majority of those jobs (6.3 percent) were in educational services. "The private sector is strong, especially real estate and construction, which keep adding jobs".
The services sector, which includes a wide range of industries such as trade, transportation and utilities as well as the retail sector, gained 300 jobs from June to July. Sectors where employment grew included government, which was up by 4,100, and leisure and hospitality, which grew by 5,200 jobs.
Madera County's July unemployment rate was 8.4 percent, up from 8 percent in June but below 9.2 percent a year ago.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for California was 4.8 percent in July, a tick higher from the 4.7 percent in June, but below the 5.4 percent rate in July 2016.
Turlock's unemployment rate rose to 7.1 percent in July, up from 7 percent in June. Last July, the rate was 4.9 percent.
Occupations with the most job ads included: First-line supervisors of food preparation and serving, registered nurses, first-line supervisors of office and administrative support, food servers, housekeeping cleaners, retail salespersons, lodging desk clerks, first-line supervisors of retail sales workers, maintenance and fix workers and physical therapists.
