Chris Haynes of ESPN shared a few quotes from Durant on the situation in the White House and why he will choose to skip the visit.
Despite this charge, in two separate speeches, President Trump condemned the racists, white nationalists, and other unsafe protesters who perpetrated the attacks in Charlottesville last weekend.
"I don't respect who's in office right now", Durant said. Durant said that he "does not respect" President Donald Trump, and therefore will not go.
"I$3 f I know my guys well enough, they'll all agree with me", he said, underlining that each member of the team will decide individually whether to attend. He's not bashful about making appearances or things like that, so outside looking in, I think this should be an annual thing. "What's going on in Charlottesville, that was unfathomable".
"I don't know what the hell came out of your mouth", Smith said. Retired NBA point guard Steve Nash also took to Twitter to slam Trump's press conference, during which the President mentioned he owns a house and a winery in the Charlottesville area (Warning: NSFW language).
"It all comes from who is in the administration", KD continued. It comes from the top.
Durant believes "leadership trickles down" and that the office of the president should lead by example.
Kevin Durant made it clear that he has no intention of visiting the White House and suggested that the whole team will agree with his decision. - Durant's hometown which is less than a dozen miles from Washington D.C.
It has become a tradition in the USA for championship teams to visit the sitting president, as baseball's Chicago Cubs did in June when they met with President Trump.
Durant isn't the only member of the Warriors to speak out about Trump since he's become the 45th president. Durant's otherwise straightforward outfit of a white T-Shirt and gray jeans was highlighted by his footwear; Virgil Abloh's unreleased Off-White x Air Jordan 1 sneakers, complete with neon green shoelaces.
