Train services from Srinagar-to Banihal via south Kashmir have been suspended Friday for "security reasons" following the killing of militants in in Anantnag. While the slain militant was identified, the identity of the other person is still unknown.
The encounter broke late last night at Kanibal in Bijbehara of Anantnag district, 55 kms from here, when the police along with Army and CRPF cordoned off a village following an intelligence input about the presence of militants, they said. While the HM's Shergujri was killed in the exchange of fire, two terrorists managed to escape in the cover of darkness.
"The outer party of the army retaliated the firing from fleeing terrorists".
"It was learnt that one individual riding a motorcycle with erased last numeral got killed in cross firing".
"No material leading to identity of the person could be found on him". "Two mobile phones (Nokia 1209) and Jivi-N300 were seized from the said individual". "One militant killed. Arms ammunition recovered", a Jammu and Kashmir Police tweet read. He was a Hizb ul Mujahideen recruit. One SLR, 2 magazines, 40 rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and a pouch was recovered from the slain terrorist.
"One solider of Rashtriya Rifles, Rifleman Rohit Kumar also sustained injuries", the spokesperson added.
