The new setting in iOS 11 will let iPhone users tap the power button quickly five times to automatically trigger emergency calls.
And with rumors that the upcoming iPhone 8 will have face recognition instead of a fingerprint scanner - one that works even when you're not directly facing the phone - this could be a good way to make sure your phone cannot be easily unlocked.
This feature is being rolled out in the public beta update which was started by the company in June. The great thing is that robbers won't even be able to tell that the user disabled the Touch ID this way, as it leaves no marks. Instead, the device's passcode will be the only way to unlock the handset.
The theory is that a fingerprint doesn't constitute "testimonial" while a passcode does.
It is important to note that Apple has been developing their latest iOS 11 with new features that were adopted from jailbreak features. Apple will probably release the latest version of its operating system alongside the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in September. "A monumental leap for iPad". Given Apple's previous stance supporting user encryption and privacy from law enforcement, this seems aimed at helping users who may be forced into unlocking their phones. The iOS 11 is also rumored to bring Siri improvements like the translation, the P2P payment, the Do Not Disturb App and a Control Centre as well.
Each video is about a minute long and focuses on one set of new features that will become available on iPads when iOS 11 is released in the fall.
