Two people were taken to a hospital Friday after a small plane crashed in Lenawee County.

The crash was reported at 2:23 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 in the 6000 block of Lyons Highway in Madison Township, according to dispatch.

There were two occupants in the airplane.

EMERGENCY crews are racing to Caloundra Airport after reports a light plane crash has crashed.

Both people were alert and talking to officials at the scene.

Stay with ClickOnDetroit.com for updates. The woman escaped the plane and walked 3/4 of a mile to get help after the plane crashed into a tree. "It's pretty remarkable that somebody could make it all the way back out here", said Lenawee County Undersheriff Troy Bevier.

He says the cause of the crash wasn't immediately known and the Federal Aviation Administration is sending investigators to the crash site.
