While waiving Westerkamp the Dolphins did add a pair of receivers on Tuesday.
Griffey originally was signed as a free agent after the 2017 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. At 6-3, Griffey has great size, but he'll have to flash some considerable skill on offense and special teams if he truly wants consideration for a roster spot.
He played college football at Arizona.
He totaled 2,474 yards and 18 touchdowns with the Huskers during his four seasons in Lincoln, Neb. His best season came as a sophomore, when he hauled in 31 receptions for 405 yards and a TD.
He becomes a member of a wide receiving corps that features two-time Pro Bowler Jarvis Landry, along with up-and-comers such as Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker. Second-year wideouts Leonte Carroo and Jakeem Grant seem to have an inside track for roster spots. The team also selected wide receiver Isaiah Ford in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech.
However, the fact that they signed Griffey well after the start of training camp shows that they might not be satisfied with the wide receivers lower on the depth chart.
