Jokes apart, SpaceX chief Elon Musk recently took to the popular photo sharing social media platform Instagram, to give us a sneak peek of what the California-based firm's new futuristic spacesuit would look like.
The spacesuit is not just a mockup but is in proper working condition and has been tested in double vacuum pressure.
The sharp white and black spacesuit has already been tested to "double vacuum pressure", according to Musk. Was incredibly hard to balance aesthetics and function.
In his Instagram post which revealed the first picture of the SpaceX spacesuit, Elon Musk kept things simple.
Although it looks more ergonomically designed compared to current astronaut suits being used today.
SpaceX is developing a crew version of its Dragon cargo capsule for NASA astronauts.
SpaceX chose to develop its own suits for astronauts, rather than using existing designs.
SpaceX is one of two companies - Orbital ATK is the other - that stepped into the breach created when NASA ended the Space Shuttle program in July 2011.
Last month, SpaceX became one of the most valuable privately held companies in the world. "More in days to follow", as the caption of the photo.
Musk had previously teased for his 11.7 million Twitter followers that images of the buzzed about space suit were coming.
Some of them are so blind-trusting on the issue that they have signed up for a quick trip around the Moon courtesy of the company's Dragon capsule. However, Boeing chose to outsource spacesuit production to David Clark Company, whereas SpaceX sought to keep costs lower by keeping much of the design and manufacturing in-house. "Easy to do either separately", Musk commented. What do you think of the suit? Most contemporary, and even next-gen spacesuits, look bulky and utilitarian.
"He kept saying, 'Anyone looks better in a tux, no matter what size or shape they are, ' and when people put this spacesuit on, he wants them to look better than they did without it, like a tux", Fernandez added.
