Croatia boss Ante Cacic has confirmed that Manchester United have missed out on the chance to sign an Inter Milan star.
The 28-year-old winger has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with rumours that Manchester United were on the verge of completing a deal for the Croatian.
It had been claimed that Man United could still launch a late bid for the attacker, but Croatia manager Cacic has insisted that Perisic is "happy in Inter", and could now sign a new long-term contract with the Italian giants.
Cacic reiterated that belief as Perisic and Croatia prepare to face Kosovo in World Cup qualifying on Saturday.
"The coach [Luciano Spalletti] appreciates him. they are preparing new contract for him".
He was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.com: "Perisic is happy at Inter".
United have scored 10 goals in those three games so far, with six different goalscorers contributing to the tally after Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini each found the net during Saturday's 2-0 win over Leicester.
It is a boost for Croatia after Modric had questioned his Croatia future, having been criticised for changing his testimony during a corruption trial against Zdravko Mamic. "He will work special programme instead".
