Vikas along with his friend were arrested when they appeared in Chandigarh Sector 26 Police Station after being summoned in the case on Thursday.

"It was revealed after reviewing footage from three CCTV cameras that the woman was chased by a vehicle from Sector 18 area to the Rajiv Nagar turning".

Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, and the other accused were arrested by the police. Police had recovered CCTV footage of incident night in which case Vikas was seen chasing varnika kundu. He has said that at the time the police rounded up the two suspects that night, there was no woman present.

Vikram and Vikas's cousin Kuldeep Barala have also been accused of threatening the girl to prevent her from speaking about the kidnapping.

He further said that he was stopped by the police while he was on his way to "replace" shoes and had no idea about the charges leveled by the police against him and his friend.

Director General of Police, Chandigarh, Tajender Singh Luthra said "on charges of attempt to abduction the duo was arrested".

Meanwhile, after CM Khattar, his cabinet colleagues including outspoken minister Anil Vij have now come out in defence of the state BJP President Subhash Barala whose son Vikas is current behind bars. The case has garnered overwhelming support from people all around the country, with various media houses campaigning for the stalker son's arrest. "Have chose to arrest both accused, will be produced before the court tomorrow", he said.

In another damning evidence in the Chandigarh stalking case, a CCTV footage has been recovered of August 4th which clearly shows accused Vikas Barala purchasing alcohol before chasing down Varnika Kunda at midnight.

At the time of the incident, both were reportedly heavily drunk.
