This new narrative game has also been worked on since 2016, with a different team from both those on Vampyr and Life is unusual 2.
Bandai Namco is to partner with Life is unusual developer Dontnod for a new adventure IP. There's not much else to go on at the moment but Bandai Namco says that it will feature "a fair dose of investigation" and will take place in a fictional USA city.
Though Dontnod has two other games now in development (the sequel to the aforementioned Life is odd and action RPG Vampyr, the latter of which is slated for November this year), Bandai Namco assured fans that development of this new IP won't affect Life is unusual 2 and that the project is being developed by a separate team of senior developers "from various horizons". Hervé Hoerdt, Bandai Namco's VP of marketing and digital, announced this in an interview with MCV. The first visible part of this was Little Nightmares, and we've been extremely happy [with it], but this is only the start of something.
DONTNOD feels like they've struck gold in the release of Life Is Strange, so they're looking to capitalize on their success by focusing more on their strengths as a creator.
However, development of this new game will not affect Life is odd 2, as it is being developed by a separate team of senior devs. We also recently released Get Even, and now we're very happy to partner with Dontnod. "It was the right moment, so we made a decision to partner [with them]".
