They then went outside to the grandmother's vehicle, where the baby's body was found.
A 4-month old girl died Friday after authorities said she was left in a vehicle for hours.
Officials were at the scene of Apple Creek Learning Center in Luther Friday afternoon.
Opgrande says the grandmother has custody of the infant and meant to drop her off at the daycare on her way to work in Oklahoma City, where the outside temperature reached 88 degrees.
A spokesman for Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, Mark Opgrande said, "She had apparently thought that she dropped off the child this morning, which she had not".
The woman, who had custody of the girl, went to pick up her granddaughter around 5 p.m., prompting day care workers to look for the child inside the facility.
That's when the baby was found dead in the back of the vehicle.
The grandmother, whose name has not yet been released, is being interviewed by police investigators at the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office who will prepare a report and send it on to the attorney's office.
It is believed the baby was inside the vehicle at the grandmother's work all day.
However, the identities of the infant girl and her grandmother have not revealed yet, Opgrande said the investigators are talking with baby's grandmother about the incident. A tragic accident with one of our beloved babies. As for now, no charges have been filed.
On average, 37 children die each year in the United States after being left in a auto, the safety organization Kids and Cars says.
