The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017 which was held yesterday turned out to be a star-studded event with the who's who from Bollywood attending the ceremony including Aishwarya Rao Bachchan, Karan Johar, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao, Konkona Sen Sharma among others. The highlight of course was watching Aamir Khan's Dangal winning back to back awards and so was the case with Prabhas- Rana Daggubatti's Baahubali 2. Last year's major hit, 'Pelli Choopulu, was also screened at the festival.
Mumbai: It is the proud moment for handsome Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she now holds the honour of being the first actress to hoist Indian flag in Melbourne.
Rahul Bose won the "Equality In Cinema" award. Taran Adarsh went to the stage and gave the award to Nitesh Tiwari (Director of Dangal) and Shobu Yarlagadda (Producer of Baahubali) with proud and honor. He was quoted as saying, "Thank you so so much". Konkona Sen Sharma won the best actress for her role in the movie. We as creative people always wish to do more and I'm far far away from rest.
Aishwarya was deeply honoured and humbled to receive the award.
Upon being given the opportunity to unfurl the Indian National flag at the event, Aishwarya was overwhelmed and expressed her gratitude. "Thank you so much Melbourne, thank you all of you for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love and warmth".
On the occasion of 70th Indian Independence Day celebrations, Aishwarya will be hoisting the Indian National flag at the iconic Federation Square building on 12 August. Kudos to the Bollywood fraternity!
