The O'Brien Award is given annually to the country's top quarterback.

Duke redshirt sophomore quarterback Daniel Jones has been named to the preseason Davey O'Brien Award Watch List.

McSorley, who is also on the Maxwell Award and Wuerffel Trophy watch lists, was also a second-team All-Big Ten choice by the conference's coaches and media, while also being named the Big Ten's Breakout Player of the Year by Athlon Sports and the Maxwell Football Club's Bryan Westbrook Tri-State Player of the Year. His 12 starts on the season were the most by a true freshman QB in school history, while his five wins were tied for most.

Jones owns career per game averages of 40.50 rushing yards, 236.33 passing yards and 276.83 total offensive yards. Of his 25 touchdown passes, 19 came inside the red zone, which led the SEC and tied for 10th in the FBS. He finished 17-of-29 passing for 223 yards and three touchdowns.

The foundation will announce the names of 16 semifinalists for the award on November 7. This year's award will be announced on December 7 at the Home Depot College Football Awards.

The 2017 season marks the 11th year that fans will be invited to participate in the voting process on VoteOBrien.org. Results from the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote will be combined with the ballots from the Selection Committee.

Allen was previously honored by the Davey O'Brien Foundation last September as one of the "Great 8" quarterbacks in Week 2 for his performance in the Razorbacks' 41-38 double-overtime win at No. 15 TCU.
