The Europabrücke in Switzerland, now the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge. All you have to do is walk through the air.
Located in south Switzerland, the steel bridge is 494 metres long and overtakes the "Titan-RT" bridge in Germany as the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge, according to a press release from Zermatt Matterhorn. It's a 351 feet bridge that connects two mountain peaks opened on Glacier 3000. And at a narrow 65cm wide, the bridge stretches like a thin wire across the sheer valley floor. Close up, it looks more like a walkable roller coaster.
Pedestrian suspension bridges are now in a bit of an arms race-the Europabrücke grabbed the "longest" title from Germany's Titan-RT bridge, which only opened this past May.
Replacing the older bridge, that was damaged due to rocks falls, the new bridge has made into the news breaking record as the longest pedestrian suspension bridge. According to Edith Zweifel, a spokesperson for the travel board, it cuts the journey across the valley from three to four hours to a mere 10 minutes.
