The decision to transfer Shrestha Thakur, a senior police officer, came a week after she sent five BJP workers to jail for creating obstacles while doing her duty.

The police officer has been transferred just a week after the incident, following a meeting of a delegation of the party's 11 MLAs and MP with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the issue. He left no stone unturned in admitting that Thakur's transfer was essential to keeping the pride of party workers and leaders intact, claimed Hindustan Times report. "We told our senior leaders that the officer does not know how to deal with the public", said Himanshu Mittal, the city president of the BJP in Bulandshahr.

But a report by NDTV informs that she is not the only one transferred.

Thakur and her team were checking vehicles in Syana area on June 22 when she stopped a person driving a motorcycle without wearing a helmet and slapped a fine of?200 on him.

It seems the BJP leaders took her words seriously and indeed approached Yogi Adityanath for an action against the honest police officer. This was when Circle Officer (CO) Shreshtha Thakur stepped in and confronted a mob of angry BJP workers. "Hum raat mein parivar ko chhor ke duty karte hain, maze lene ke liye nahi (we leave our families at home at night not to have fun but to do our job)", she tells them. An altercation soon broke out and the BJP worker asked other members to arrive at the scene. workers who gathered at the spot argued with Thakur and other police personnel, even accused one of the constables of seeking bribe.

Thakur refused to relent and demanded that the workers get a letter from the Chief Minister stating that the police should not check traffic violations.
