The Hollywood star was pictured next to Sara Nazarbayeva, first lady of Kazakhstan, where he is reportedly attending the 13th Eurasia global film festival, and Twitter went into meltdown. (So it goes.) Turns out the truth is closer to the latter-except Cage is neither in costume nor in character.
He's touring Kazakhstan for their 13th Eurasia International Film Festival.
Another crafty artist put him in the Game Of Thrones sword throne for a hilarious take on the picture. Nick Cage wearing an ornate Kazakh robe over a dress shirt and tie is even funnier. And for some reason the actor recently headed to Kazakhstan and found himself taking a photo with the country's first lady. Why?
Instantly, this photo was transformed in to a meme. And so, they chose Cage's thousand-yard stare.
I mean, yes, the outfit combined with the gaze is what's especially amusing.
According to the Kazinform news agency, Cage said: "I would be pleased to participate in some film project on the territory of Kazakhstan". Then again, most anything Cage touches turns into internet humor gold.
It's not always easy being Nicolas Cage.
Now Cage, once one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors, has to take jobs "right and left" to pay off his debts, including the millions he owes to the IRS, CNBC reported. And just like that, a hundred buddy-comedy script options appeared out of thin air.
