The trending news as Amid agitations for Biafra and calls for the restructuring of Nigeria's political structure, Governors of the South-East and the South-South, Sunday night met in Enugu.
The governors, after the three-hour meeting, also agreed on political cooperation.
Also at the meeting is the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and the President of the Ohanaeze Nd'igbo, John Nwodo.
Governors of Edo and Delta, Godwin Obaseki and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, were absent.
"We are also talking about economic survival of the two regions and look at possible ways of bringing our ingenuity and making use of our huge deposit of both human and natural resources to attain economic viable zones in Nigeria", Uzor said.
While decrying the common infrastructural problems in the two regions, Ugwuanyi argued that a united region of South-South and South East will thrive, as mutual cooperation would give them more influence at the federal level.
"Through inter-regional cooperation, we will be able to speak with one voice and form a greater political capital that will influence the Federal Government", he said.
Also discussed during the meeting was the need for the inclusion of the eastern rail corridor, which runs through the South-South and South-East, in the proposed Chinese EXIM Bank loan.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the closed door meeting, Udom said that governors from the two regions chose to come together to pursue inter-regional cooperation for greater integration.
According to report gathered the crucial meeting, which installed Udom Emmanuel as the forum Governor while filling this report the governors included Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu, Dave Elechi, Ebonyi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia, Rochas Okorocha, Imo, Nyesom Wike, Rivers, Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa, Udom Emmanuel, Akwa-Ibom, Prof.
The chairman of the meeting Emmanuel Udom while reading a communique after their meeting on Monday, July 10, said the the governors in the region have agreed to work together to realign as a people with common cultural heritage and affinities.
