Of course Serena is now taking a break from the sport, as she is expecting her first child in September. She insisted she doesn't yell at her television while watching. And while she categorized many pregnant women as either having a wonderful or miserable time with it, she's so happy to find herself enjoying each minute. It's up to me.
Williams wants to make sure that she and fiance Alexis Ohanian continue the routine in their growing family.
Serena and Venus talk after every match, and occasionally text before.
She's one of the greatest tennis players of all time. "That's what she's doing and, even though I'm not playing, that's what I'm doing right now for her". Her biggest focus, though, is sleep, which is why she's teamed up with Tempur-Pedic as part of the mattress brand's Sleep Is Power campaign.
She knows sleep is something she won't get a lot of once the baby arrives but admits that quality rest will play a crucial role when she decides to return to the tennis court.
First, Williams discussed the baby on the way.
Serena Williams has turned to pal Kelly Rowland's new mums book to study up on pregnancy. She doesn't have any specific goals, and will count everything that happens next as a "bonus". "It's pretty backward", Serena said, noting that her diet includes "lots of greens, plenty of vegetables" and getting her amino acids through "either fish or different types of nuts and seeds". "I've actually never played for money-I just thought you would go out there and hold a trophy". "Looking back, I'm like, wow, we lived in a two-bedroom house with seven people".
