Costa Rica enter this quarterfinal match against Panama in good form.

Two teams were quietly excellent in the group stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup while North America's attention was on other teams, but now they're going to have the full spotlight. The Central American side started with a surprising 1-1 draw against the United States, then had a predictable 2-1 win against Nicaragua and finally had a convincing 3-0 victory against Martinique.

Opportunities were few and far between in an uneventful first half, with Miguel Camargo's shot from distance the only legitimate shot on goal for Panama in the opening 20 minutes. Panama did well to hold them scoreless, and will be looking for the same on Wednesday. If not for a late goal from the USA's Matt Miazga, Panama would have topped the group as well.

Costa Rica has never won the Gold Cup since its founding in 1991.

Both Costa Rica and Panama will be tough defenses to crack, and this match looks to be a tense, low-scoring affair.
