A Springfield mother is accused of endangering her two children by towing them in a little red plastic wagon behind her auto around a roundabout repeatedly Wednesday evening.
Police arrested Alana Donohue Wednesday evening after saying she pulled three children, all between the ages of 2 and 8, behind her vehicle in a small plastic wagon.
Lt. McKee told The Oregonian/OregonLive that Donahue told police it wasn't a big deal, that she was "showing the kids a good time", and only driving 5 miles per hour.
McKee said the third child's father, who lives nearby, took his 8-year-old son home before police arrived Wednesday. McKee said Donahue was not intoxicated.
As of Friday afternoon, Donahue remained in the Springfield Municipal Jail.
They also say the children and the wagon were nearly hit when the vehicle pulled into a nearby store. One driver reported almost hitting the wagon, the police logs show.
Other witnesses told officials that Donahue was holding up traffic and then yelling at motorists, telling them to get out of her way and mind their own business.
She eventually stopped the auto, put the wagon in the back of the vehicle and began walking on Jasper Road with her children before police caught up and arrested her.
The children were placed in the custody of their father, police dispatch records show. She did not appear to be under the influence of intoxicants.
At least four drivers called police after seeing the woman in a white Ford Taurus pulling the wagon in the traffic circle at South 42nd Street and Jasper Road.
Donahue is charged with two counts of reckless endangering.
