A man has attacked people with a knife at one of metro stations in Tehran, Iran, reports TASS.
Witnesses told that police opened fire, injuring the attacker.
The shootout happened at the Shahre Rey station after a man stabbed a cleric and some other people, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.
The aggressor and the injured ones including the cleric were taken to the hospital immediately by emergency staff, however the attacker died due to critical condition.
The security forces arrested the assailant, shut down the gates of the metro station and halted the operations in the subway, local media reported.
