Siteki has been a Fairfax County police officer for two years.
The crash happened at Leesburg Pike and Patrick Henry Drive while officer Pshko Siteki was heading to a disorderly conduct call.
Fairfax County Chief of Police Edwin Roessler announced that Officer Pshko Siteki was served a summons for misdemeanor reckless driving earlier today for his role in the crash that took place at the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Patrick Henry Dr.in Falls Church around 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18. At the time of the crash, Siteki was going 68 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone, police said. The posted speed limit for that section of roadway is 40 miles per hour.
Both the driver of the minivan and the officer were taken to the hospital. The civilian received extensive injuries and, five months later, is still recovering.
An Internal Affairs investigation was launched shortly after the crash to determine the circumstances of the crash.
The officer's police cruiser had a video system, but the video was destroyed in the crash.
Siteki was served a summons on Tuesday and placed on paid leave pending a court appearance, Police Chief Edwin Roessler announced Tuesday. The investigation is still active, said Fairfax County police spokesman Don Gotthardt. "It may have taken that long to get the case file together", he said. Police say he was traveling 68 miles per hour without using his siren or emergency lights when he collided with a minivan that turned in front of him.
