Starlin Castro has been activated from the disabled list Saturday afternoon as the Bombers try to bounce back after Friday night's brutal loss to Boston at Fenway Park.
Castro has been out since June 27 with a strained right hamstring, but will rejoin the Yankees prior to their game against the Red Sox on Saturday.
However, due to a poor 2015 season that saw Castro slash just.265/.296/.375 with 11 home runs and 69 RBI, the Cubs made a decision to move on from the infielder.
To make room on the roster, the Yankees optioned infielder/outfielder Tyler Wade to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Before his promotion, he hit.313 with five homers and 24 stolen bases at Triple-A.
Wade has been in New York's system since 2013 and owns a career minor-league slash line of.274/.356/.359.
The Yankees went 4-9 in 13 games with Castro on the DL.
