The rumors are true: A third season of "True Detective" is happening, and it will star Oscar victor Mahershala Ali. Hiring Ali is a good start to redeeming the once-acclaimed franchise.

The show's first season was a critical success. "We have a deal with Mahershala Ali to play lead".
After winning the Oscar, the actor toldDeadline, "All due respect to House of Cards". Since then, he's been thrust into the Hollywood A-list, winning the Academy Award for best supporting actor for his role in Moonlight, which itself won the Oscar for best picture.
