Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has jetted out of the G20 summit on board French President Emmanuel Macron's official plane bound for bilateral talks in Paris. "It's a real piece of progress from the G20 forum", Macron said. President Trump had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hamburg.
Macron made the remarks to the press after the closing session of the G20 summit in Hamburg.
The French leader also declared that the United States decision to withdraw from the the Paris agreement on climate change is "a mistake", and "noted with great satisfaction that [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin has confirmed his support for the Paris agreement". Both the leaders have repeated their commitment to improve relationship between Russian Federation and the United States.
He said that the summit would aim to mobilise private and public financing for the projects committed to under the Paris agreement.
Earlier, Macron repeatedly stated that he attaches great importance to climate change.
"On the subject of bilateral and regional issues, I welcome the quality and the intensity of the work that has been established since [meeting in Versailles in May]", Macron told Putin. "I never despair to convince, because I think it is a duty, given my position, and it is a trait of my character".
