Rose's departure felt like a weight being lifted after years of his various injury cycles and weird and confusing statements nearly every time a microphone was in front of him.
"The Cavs are believed to be offering Rose a minimum contract for $2.1 million for the upcoming seasons to play with Kyrie Irving in the team's backcourt". The Lakers have the full $4.3 million room exception and can promise Rose more playing time.

Why would the Cavs sign Derrick Rose?! The former NBA MVP put up career averages of 19.5 points, six assists, and just under four rebounds per game. Ball likely will start for the Purple and Gold, but Rose wouldn't be a bad addition as a backup point guard. Going there (Cleveland) would give him a real opportunity to win.
All three teams could pay Rose more money than the Cavs, though it is unclear what each team has offered him. He shot 5 of 11 on corner 3-pointers (45.4 percent) but an abysmal 8 of 44 above the break (18.2 percent).
The Knicks probably will need to get a point guard through a trade.
Rose averaged 18 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists on 47 percent shooting over 64 games for the New York Knicks last season after being traded from Chicago in June of past year.
