Two Ukrainian tourists were killed and four others wounded in a knife attack at an Egyptian Red Sea resort.
In January 2016, three tourists in Hurghada were wounded in a stabbing attack by two assailants with apparent Islamic State group sympathies. The Reuters news agency said two Ukrainian nationals were dead.
It is believed the incident took place on a beach in the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada. The motive for the attack is still under investigation.
No names were immediately released, and details about the victims' conditions weren't available. The nationalities of the tourists were not announced by the Ministry of Interior.
Elsewhere on Friday, gunmen ambushed a checkpoint in Giza province south of Cairo, shooting and killing five policemen and setting their auto on fire.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Insurgents have carried out a number of attacks in Egypt since the 2013 military ouster of an elected Islamist president.
