Keen to shine a spotlight on the underrepresented footballing talent in Pakistan, Brazillian football legend Ronaldinho, Manchester United's Ryan Giggs and five other global football stars arrived in Islamabad on Saturday.
Moments before the formal start of the exhibition match between "Ronaldinho-11" and "Ryan Giggs-11" at Abdul Sattar Edhi hockey stadium, a young player said: "I am feeling very excited".
The other worldwide players include David James, George Botang, Luis Bova, Nicolas Anelka, Robert Pyres, Ryan Giggs and Roberto Carlos, and VIP security will be given to them.
The worldwide players were escorted from airport to the hotel under tightened VVIP security.
Brazilian Roberto Carlos is also likely to participate in seven-a-side exhibition match on the Pakistani soil. In addition to the global stars, the teams will also consist of Pakistan's emerging football talent.
Ronaldinho will lead the team which will play two matches during its visit to Pakistan.
The players leave airport amid tight security.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday held a reception for visiting Brazilian football celebrity Ronaldinho and other seven top footballers, ISPR statement said. "We are privileged to be trained by Pakistan football's global coach".
They posted several tweets on the arrival to the country.
It looks as if there is absolutely nothing that can lower the spirit of football fans in Pakistan as people are grasping tickets as soon as they can despite the record high prices of tickets for the historic football matches featuring football legends in Karachi and Lahore this weekend.
