Since the 1950s Jaguar has prided itself on cars with grace, space and pace; now it has added more pace to the grace and space of its XJ sedan with the 2018 XJR575 performance flagship model. That's good enough for a claimed 0-100km/h blast-off in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 300km/h.
Inside, a ten-inch infotainment touchscreen dominates the dashboard, and provides access to a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to eight connected devices. Other technologies on offer include Forward Traffic Detection, which can help drivers when forward visibility is restricted, Lane Keep Assist and Driver Condition Monitor.
The 2018 Jaguar XJ range, including the new XJR575, will be released in South Africa late in 2017; pricing will be announced closer to the local launch.
Customers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior colour finishes created by Special Vehicle Operations - Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey - while additional tailor-made exterior details include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring gloss black surrounds. The hood also gets new twin hood louvres and red brake calipers peek out behind the unique 20-inch gloss black wheels. Inside, the sill finishers bear the XJR575 logo, as do the diamond-quilted seats. Compared to the XJR, the 2018 XJR575 has an additional 25 horsepower for a total 575-hp and 517 lb-ft. of torque that give it a 0-60 miles per hour time of 4.2 seconds and a 186 miles per hour top speed. With 567bhp going through the rear tyres, the new XJR575 will hit its electronically-limited 186mph top speed in 44 seconds, having passed 62mph in a traction-limited 4.4 seconds. Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different.
