ABC NEWS-Americans give President Donald Trump the lowest six-month approval rating of any president in polls dating back 70 years, punctuated by questions about his competence on the world stage, his effectiveness, the GOP health care plan and Russia's role in the 2016 election.
The Bloomberg poll comes two days after ABC and the Washington Post released a survey that showed Trump's disapproval rating had sunk to 58 percent. He also said the Washington Post/ABC News poll was "just about the most inaccurate" ahead of last year's presidential election.
Trump's overall approval rating has fallen from 42% at the 100-day mark of his presidency in April compared to a Washington Post/ABC poll at that time.
In a tweet on Sunday, the president reminded Americans that most polls showed Trump would lose the election to Clinton, his Democratic opponent, though Trump omitted that some pollsters and polling analysts put a Trump victory comfortably within the margin of error.
Fifty-eight percent of respondents said they have an unfavorable view of Clinton, a slightly higher figure than the 55 percent who said they view Trump unfavorably. In contrast, 31% said Russian Federation didn't try to influence the election and just 14% said Trump aides didn't help or Trump didn't benefit from Moscow's efforts. In addition, 60% said they believed Russian Federation tried to influence the 2016 presidential race and 41% said they thought Trump campaign aides intentionally helped those efforts, while 44% said they believed Trump benefited from Russia's efforts.
"Even though Trump's approval rating is similar to Nixon's, more Americans support impeachment today than did in 1973", Monmouth University Polling Institute director Patrick Murray said in a statement.
By comparison, six percent of Trump voters now say they view him unfavorably.
The poll, conducted July 10-13, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
