We spent some time in the Destiny 2 beta this week, available first on PlayStation 4 and a day later (yesterday) on Xbox One for those who pre-ordered and below are our impressions.
Happily, Bungie has been listening, and has leapt into action to address Destiny 2's power weapon issues.
In the Destiny 2 Beta, there are a total of 20 weapons that players can get their hands on.
I think this current beta's designation of being a demo is even more apropos after Bungie revealed that the build we were given is months old. Of what fully appreciate the sad spectacle that we are witnessing, with a base in flames and the enemies.
- If you encounter any network related issues during the Destiny 2 Beta, please follow our Network Troubleshooting Guide to ensure proper network settings for Destiny gameplay. It's got vast areas where you'll need to navigate insane jumps while avoiding enemies. In the prequel, Exotic Weapons have been the top choice of players.
A mission " Homecoming " that will loop in about half an hour, and that do not pose any particular problems to players with a minimum endowed in the matter. I stuck with the default Arcstrider Hunter subclass, and I did not regret it for a second. So there's not much for solo players to explore and enjoy.
This includes a brand new game mode called Countdown, as well as the classic Control mode. Here, it was possible to carry out the mission, " The Inverted Arrow", an all-out assault co-op for three players which takes them to the depths of Nessos, or even throw in two game modes " Race", in which two teams of four players to compete via a Domination mode and a mode Explosive. For those of you who are wondering, we bucket you separately depending on the playlist, so your Quickplay skill is tracked separately from your Competitive skill. A part of two rounds, each team playing one's own role each time.
Bungie will be opening up new content for a limited time this weekend.
Seductive or not this beta?
PvP wasn't specifically mentioned this week, but the beta isn't over yet so we should hear more on that front next week once Bungie has had a chance to look at all the data from this week's testing. Bungie is also tuning all ammo drop rates after the beta ends. It's clear Bungie is trying to push the characters and story more, to build on the unused lore of the first game. Bungie has clearly made a decision to refine the original formula, and not of the transform. Bungie acknowledged those complaints in a weekly update post Thursday along with promising tweaks already being put in place based on player feedback.
Destiny 2 will release on September 6 for PS4 and Xbox One, the PC version will be available from October 24th.
