Canada and Costa Rica battled to a 1-1 in a group game of the Gold Cup CONCACAF on Tuesday night, in Houston.
It was Alphonso Davies who got Canada going at the start of the match, showcasing his speed and finishing ability on his 26th-minute goal on a cross from Scott Arfield.
Davies scored two goals against French Guiana in his Gold Cup debut Friday.
However, Costa Rica drew level three minutes before the break when Minnesota United defender Francisco Calvo found the net.
And Los Ticos almost took the lead before the break, when David Guzman lashed a first-time shot from a Urena pass that forced Borjan into a diving save to keep the score level at 1-1.
That said, French Guiana made things scary by scoring twice in two minutes in the second half while creating more opportunities that a more ruthless team - like Costa Rica - may have exploited.
Calvo came close with a headed attempt in the 81st minute, but Borjan did well to go low and to his left to save a potential go-ahead goal for Costa Rica.
Canada and Costa Rica are tied in Group A with four points apiece, but Canada is in first place because it has scored more goals.
The Canucks play their final group stage match against Honduras in Frisco, Texas on Friday, knowing a win would take them through to the knockout stages.
