A recent University of Arizona graduate was reportedly beaten to death in Greece while celebrating with his frat brothers.
Police said a 22-year-old man was beaten by a group of people at the bar early on Friday in Laganas.
Four men were arrested in connection to his death, including a security guard and a bar employee. Greek media reported that the parents of the victim, who suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital, were expected to arrive on Zante later Saturday.
"Bakari loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, and meeting new people".
According to a spokesperson with the Department of State, Greek police said a US citizen died in the early morning hours of Friday.
Henderson was from Austin, Texas, and was studying at the University of Arizona where he was taking business finance and entrepreneurship noted the dailymail. He was a big thinker and enjoyed coming up with new business ventures. Henderson's family declined to comment Friday afternoon but confirmed he was the person killed in the incident. Our hearts and prayers are with his family and friends. I can only imagine the deep sense of loss they must be feeling at his untimely death.
"We are in communication with authorities and providing consular assistance to the deceased citizen's family", the official said in a statement Saturday. It's always a tragedy when a young life ends before it has really yet to begin. Statesman archives show he attended both Anderson High School and Hyde Park Baptist, where he was a standout basketball player.
The BBC reported on another man's death in 2011 on this same island of Zakynthos.
Police told ABC News that a British citizen of Serbian origin, who is temporarily employed in Greece as a bouncer, and a Greek national, who works at the bar in Zakynthos, were arrested Friday and named suspects in the beating death.
