An Indian Army soldier was killed in the unprovoked firing by the Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri sector on Saturday.
Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer, 35, a native of the border district of Poonch in J&K, was hit during the firing and shelling by Pakistani troops on Indian forward posts, the spokesman said.
Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer was severely injured in the fire exchange earlier.
The Pakistani firing and shelling was reported along the LoC in Balakote, Panjgrian, Naika and Manjakote areas.
"Pakistan ceasefire violation started at 1.30 p.m.at both these places".
The defence spokesman said that Naseer belonged to Ajout village of Poonch district. All three terrorists were killed today in a long-drawn-out gunfight with security personnel.
The firing is being retaliated strongly and effectively by Indian troops, a defense spokesman said. The incident comes hours after security forces cornered three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
In another major breakthrough, the police caught two youth red handed after they hurled a grenade on the CRPF party on Saturday afternoon, injuring one assistant sub-inspector at Laroo in Kulgam district in South Kashmir. "I am sure we will continue eliminating the terrorists who are moving around in this area", said Lieutenant General JS Sandhu, general officer commanding (GOC) 15 corps.
