According to authorities, the child had been in the vehicle for several hours before he was found.

PHOENIX- The Phoenix Police Department said a one-year-old boy is dead after being was left in a hot vehicle for two hours near 28th Street and Broadway Road Saturday afternoon. Police say when he looked into the back seat, the father saw the child, unresponsive. Fire officials said the baby was left in the heat for hours.

Phoenix police are investigating.

That baby has been identified as Zane Endress.

Firefighters were called shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a 1-year-old boy in a auto in the parking lot of the Free Church of God in Christ on the city's south side, authorities said. Police believe the family may have been returning from work, parked their auto, and possibly forgot the baby was still inside.

No arrests have been made in connection with that incident.

It would be several hours before a family member discovered the boy and called 911.
