United Kingdom police are expected to name the men behind Saturday night's terror attack in London, in which seven people were killed and 48 others injured.
The Daily Mirror reported the man, one of three assailants who were shot dead after mowing down pedestrians with a van on London Bridge and going on a stabbing rampage at a nearby market on Saturday, has been identified by the police only as Abz.
Police believe they know the identity of the three attackers and have taken 12 people into custody in a series of raids across east London in an investigation involving thousands of officers, she added.
London police said officers killed the attackers within eight minutes of arriving at the scene.
Applauding the United Kingdom for its strength and resilience in the face of adversity, he said: "These hateful acts do not deter us; they only strengthen our resolve".
But later on Sunday he condemned the attacks in more conventional terms, sidestepping the spat with Khan and saying he had spoken with Prime Minister Theresa to extend America's "unwavering support".

A similar attack in March on Westminster bridge, carried out by 52-year-old Briton Khaled Massood, killed four people and injured more than 50.
