Just like Ian Brady, every effort is going in to making sure that there is not a chance Abedi can be buried or cremated in Greater Manchester'.

This appears to have been confirmed by the London Evening Standard, who were told by a spokesman Abedi's body wouldn't be interred there if his family made a request.

It is believed that Abedi's body is now being held by a coroner, ahead of an inquest hearing and a final decision on when his remains will be released.

His body has also never been stored alongside his victims, the source said.

Abedi's father and his younger brother have been arrested by counterterrorist forces, while his elder brother Ismail, 23, was arrested in Manchester following the attack. Detectives claimed Hashem was planning his own terror attack in Tripoli, and that he had links to Isis.

The revelations come as counter-terrorism police said last night that Salman may have acted alone.

Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi likely purchased most of the key bomb components himself and many of his actions were carried out alone, British police investigating the attack said.

Police are urgently poring over CCTV footage of Salman Abedi in the week leading up to the attack on 22 May, as they continue to establish whether he was part of a wider terror network.

The man, from Nuneaton, was initially arrested on Wednesday, Greater Manchester Police said.

Raids and other police activity is still continuing and a bomb disposal unit was seen at Banff Road in Rusholme, south Manchester, on Tuesday night.

It may contain crucial evidence that could allow forensic experts to piece together the gaps in his final movements.

"The public should not approach the case if they see it but contact police immediately on 999".

"Our enquiries show Abedi himself made most of the purchases of the core components", said Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.

"What is becoming apparent is that many of his movements and actions have been carried out alone during the four days from him landing in the country and committing this bad attack".

There remain a number of things that concern us about his behaviour prior to the attack and those of his associates which we need to get to the bottom of.
