Texas Rangers reliever Sam Dyson will be designated for assignment, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
The 29-year-old, who saved 38 games for the Rangers in 2016, has been bad this season posting a 1-6 record with a 10.80 ERA in 16.2 innings.
Opposing hitters have a 1.156 OPS against Dyson this season (.658 last season).
Rosenthal says the Rangers would like to trade Dyson and that at least one team has expressed interest. Despite his struggles this season, pitchers with Dyson's recent success, pitching repertoire and low salary aren't easy to find.
If they designate Dyson for assignment, the Rangers will have 10 days to either trade, release or outright him to the minors.
Dyson, 29, was solid in 2016 when he posted a 2.43 ERA and recorded 38 saves to help the Rangers with the American League West.
