Kathy Griffin and her attorney Lisa Bloom hosted a press conference Friday in San Francisco to address the fallout from her viral photo of the bloodied head of President Trump.
When a reporter asked how many jobs she's lost since the photo Griffin named five, including the New Year's Eve hosting gig on CNN-and that she had not spoken to her co-host Anderson Cooper since the photo backlash.
Trump said the image of Griffin with the gory mask resembling him was "sick" and had traumatised his family, especially his youngest son, 11-year-old Barron.
She's also hired a criminal defense attorney, Dmitry Gorin, in response to the alleged investigation from the Secret Service. They also brought up past threats against President Barack Obama made by Ted Nugent, who was recently invited to the White House by Trump.
Speaking on Friday, Griffin insisted it was a parody meant to address Mr Trump's remark past year that former Fox News presenter Megyn Kelly had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of wherever".
Mashable reports Griffin apologizing on a video, "I sincerely apologize", she said.
"It's hurtful to me", Griffin said.
Griffin and her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, defended her video several times as "edgy" and "in your face" comedy, and said it's not fair that Trump bullied her.
Franken says he has heard from constituents "who were rightfully offended", leading the Minnesota Democrat to change his mind from earlier, when he had said she was still welcome.
After the controversial images were released Tuesday, Griffin issued a mea culpa, saying she "went too far".
Bloom said in a prepared statement that Griffin was acting out a "parody of Trump's own sexist remarks" in the photo.
Bloom, who has a number of high-profile clients, has been in the news recently for her work with former Fox News contributor Wendy Walsh, who has accused Bill O'Reilly of sexual harassment.
"The comic has faced controversies before for her humor, but none as widespread as the one generated by Tuesday's images".
Griffin said she called the news conference to set an example.
"I think it is the job of a comedian to cross the line at all times, because that line is not real", Carrey says. Now, all her troubles are suddenly due to the Trump family's hostilities, and she says she plans to continue to make fun of Trump in future appearances, assuming there will be future appearances on her calendar.
