Aercap now has 100 737 MAX airplanes on order.
Airbus said it secured deals for 20 A320neo single-aisle planes and eight A330 widebodies from Zagros Airlines and another 45 single-aisle jets from Iran Airtour.
Boeing announced orders and commitments for a total of 571 commercial aircraft, valued at $74.5bn at list prices, while Airbus booked $40bn in new business.
Ryanair has bought 10 more Boeing 737 Max 200 aircraft, five of which will be delivered in the first half of 2019.
Boeing continued to build its order book for the 737 MAX, including Netherlands-based lessor AerCap becoming the latest customer to commit to the 737 MAX 10 by converting 15 MAX 8 orders to MAX 10s.
The Airbus sales were worth about $39 billion at list prices, with an Avitas-estimated real value after standard discounts of $17 billion.
According to Bloomberg, Boeing has focussed on the 737 due to the lack of demand for jumbo passenger jets (such as its famous 747), and have even gone so far as to drop the four-engine plane category from its annual forecast. The order, if confirmed, would add to the airline's existing fleet of 149 Next-Generation 737s. The 737 Max 10, which can carry up to 230 passengers, is the largest in the class, and Boeing said it would be 5% cheaper to operate than the Airbus A321neo.
Boeing yesterday launched the newest and largest member of its 737 MAX family of jets at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The unit of Beijing-based Bohai Capital Holding Co. chose to lock in deliveries of as many as 125 of upgraded narrow-body jets from the US company because the slots are "very valuable real estate", Avolon Chief Executive Officer Domhnal Slattery said.
Boeing unveiled plans for its new Dreamliner jet - dubbed the "797" - at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday.
Lockheed Martin is in the final stages of negotiating a US$37 billion-plus deal to sell 440 F-35 jets to a group of 11 nations, including the U.S., two people familiar with the matter said. These buyers have stayed away from bigger jets, making the so-called narrowbody, or single-aisle, market the key to the industry's medium-term health. Iran is coming back from years under worldwide sanctions.
Air Lease also signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing for 12 737 MAXs at the Paris Air Show.
David Joyce, president of General Electric Co.'s aviation unit, said the company would be building 800 more engines than planned in the coming three years for Airbus and Boeing to meet strong demand. Their explanation is that we have to have more flights.
