India recorded a big 7-1 victory over Pakistan in the pool game. Glorious opportunity for Pakistan to level the match.
Malaysia, now ranked 14th in the world, started well but missed a number of penalty corners which eventually proved costly as Lucas Vila struck from a penalty corner in the 13th minute to give his team the lead.
Pakistan pulled one back through Ajaz Ahmad (41st) in the third quarter. Talwinder Singh was the other goal-scorer for India. A Pradeep Mor hit from some distance found Talwnder unmarked who found the target with a first time hit.
Mandeep used the smallest of angles as he moved down the left side.
The first quarter was completely dominated by the Indian side which restricted the opponents in their respective half.
They continued to press after the break.
Pressure mounted on Pakistan when India won their second PC in the 36th minute. Ejaz Ahmed capped a fluent move involving three players. Both teams played an attacking style and there were several chances at either end. In the 59th minute, Mandeep scored his second, availing a rebound to make it 6-1.
They were up against Pakistan once again in the first classification match and ran out comfortable winners at 6-1.
By then India were leading by 4-0 while Pakistan still looking to open the account of their goals. Thanks to Akashdeep Singh and Ramandeep Singh's efforts each time due to which the goal number 3 and 4 were scored just before the half-time.
