Putting an end to all the leaks and rumors, Huawei has pulled the wraps off its Honor 9 handset today in China. The dual camera setup is still here, and the Honor 9 is made out of metal and glass, just like its predecessor. The Honor 9 shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor, especially in the design aspect. The device also comes with HD earphones from Monster.
Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass sensors are present in the phone. Still, judging from Honor's past, it's more than likely we'll be seeing the device get released in the worldwide market as well, including the United States.
As far as the colors are concerned, the device will arrive in three color options, such as Blue, Grey and Amber Gold.
Huawei has a respectable reputation when it comes to offering the best camera smartphones, and its dual lens cameras have been perceived well by consumers and critics alike. Under the hood is the 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and comes coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The device will be available in 6GB and 4GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage options. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 custom skin layered above. You can also expand the memory with MicroSD card, thanks to the hybrid SIM card slot.
The phone is provided with a Dual 12 MP primary camera along with phase detection and laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. Then again, the company is also launching Huawei Pay, which is nothing but its own mobile payment solution, which the Huawei 9 will support.
For selfies, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front. It packs a 3,200 mAh battery to support all the aforementioned features to function. Other specs include Wi-Fi ac, NFC, VoLTE, and a headphone jack. It measures 147.3 x70.9 x 7.45 mm and weighs 155 grams. The model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage is set to retail for ¥2,299 ($340), the version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage will be available for ¥2,699 ($400), and finally the variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage will be sold for ¥2,999 ($440). While there is no word yet on its availability in the UAE, the Honor 9 is scheduled to hit the stores in China on June 16.
