Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said yesterday that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated as the Eid moon was sighted in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Uttar Pradesh.
The celebration came after the Office of the Chularatchamontri on Saturday declared Sunday as the start of the Hariraya, also known as Eid al-Fitr in some Islamic countries.

The exact date of Eid depends on the lunar cycle, and it is traditionally celebrated for three days - although from country to country, the festival can last anywhere from one to four days.
