He became the fifth player to shoot 63 in a U.S. Open and the first player at 9 under. He hit an eagle on No. 18 to finish nine-under on the day and 11 under after three days at Erin Hills. But then he three-putted from long range on the 13th and the 14th, and lost all hope when he missed the green on the 17th while going after the flag. He shot three over in Round 3 to fall from seven under to only four under. At 30, Harman isn't quite in the growing pack of young players taking the PGA over, but the Georgian turned in a -5 67 on Saturday to get to -12 for the tournament and enter Sunday with the lead.
He was at 8 under at the end of the day, and never got back to double digits. Only a half-dozen of them have even experienced Sunday contention in golf's biggest events.
But Oostihuizen knows how quickly momentum can swing at a U.S. Open.

Day at least managed to find one positive spin.
"I'm getting to do exactly what I wanted to do since I was 10 years old". Five players are at double-digit under par through 54 holes. Englishman Paul Casey who had a share of the overnight lead, crashed down the leaderboard with a triple bogey to sit six off the pace with nine to play.
"Yeah, 12 under, I'd have about a 10-shot lead in most Opens", he said. "It's just concentrate on each day".
The last six majors have been won by first-timers, and that cycle has a good chance to continue. "And just unfortunately, this didn't pan out".
McIlroy, the No. 2 player in the world, also arrived last Friday having missed the last month to rest a nagging rib injury.
"The course wasn't created to be soft, and if it was going to be soft, it should have been 26-or-27-yard-wide fairways". If only he had hit the fairways.

The tournament was such a slog that it didn't finish 72 holes until Monday.
He made six birdies and one bogey on his front nine in the third round, and capped the round with an eagle, three birdies and a bogey on the back nine. McIlroy came to life when it was far too late. "I've pictured winning the U.S. Open a lot of times before".
McIlroy dismissed the notion of being rusty before the tournament, but conceded on his way out of Wisconsin that he hasn't played almost enough.
"Even though it's very disappointing to not be here on the weekend, I think these last two rounds will serve me well going into the summer", added the 28-year-old, who has added the Scottish Open to his schedule in between the Irish Open and Open Championship.
Stewart Cink had a bad start to the third round of his 20th U.S. Open. "I'm excited to get on a run of golf and get going".
His schedule will pick up immediately.
QUOTEWORTHY: "I'm not here on the weekend, so it's unfortunate".
Day thought his game was perfectly suited for Erin Hills. But he wasn't doing much of anything right, especially off the tee. "Really a solid day, though, all the way around", Stricker said.
"I couldn't have shot any higher", Johnson said.
"If you look at the golf course and you even talk to me, Jason or Rory, this course sets up flawless for us", Johnson said.
